FISHERMEN AND THE SEA

In the arms of ocean they dwell,
The fishermen challenging the might
of the ocean possessing abilities.
Of resilience,will power and courage.
Moving towards the ocean to steal
the catch of the day.
To reap their rewards regardless of
the climate
They themselves in danger of the
waves of the ocean
The blue touching the horizon where
beauty is captured.

This inspiration carrying them miles
to gather the wealth of the ocean.
The dangers they brave ridiculous
of the catamarans which float loftily
helping them survive
Doing their duty capturing nature’s bounty.
The fish,the crabs and the oysters challenging
them hope against hope
The fishermen is the winner and it is
the ocean that gets the surprise and
has to cope.
The perfect idea of livelihood is the ocean,
Pouring elixir down the throats of the
fishermen who but rely on the tricks
passed down through generations.

They learn to laugh,cry and raise their
voice against the atrocities of nature
Their lifestyle proclaiming them
as God’s of the ocean leaving Thor behind.
Simple yet great with their nets
making no mistake to feed their family
The wives of the fishermen be the
ocean because of their needs.
And sometimes the angry ocean
leaves them helpless.
And many die in the face of this adversity
Of the blowing winds and angry
clouds that are but a blessing.
The fishermen doing their duty.

The truth is that they are ready to
sacrifice their lives
The solitude but makes them accept
the ocean as a unique entity.
The symphony of their lives but
matching the beautiful ocean
The treasure it holds telling many
stories bold,
Their nature makes them give their best.
And the ocean is but for the fishermen a lullaby,
The ocean is a gift where the desires of fishermen are fulfilled,
The ocean is the occupation of the fishermen
as they dare to dream.
Their souls free and independent giving a new
meaning to freedom.
